This is a short animation by Jay White, one of last year’s artist in residence on the Chilkoot Trail. He created this animation in 2006 while living in a cabin south of Whitehorse. It was inspired by his time in Germany when people would tell him to be cautious of wild pigs while walking in the forest, but the setting to me feels very much like the Yukon, the Yukon in the fall of red and yellow aspen leaves, a bittersweet time because it is the edge of winter, a time to say goodbye.
